The AC3 Decoder was brought out in 2005 and is a converter to convert AC3 file and other VOB files into another format. The most common conversions for the AC3 decoder is converting files into  Ogg Vorbis, MP3, PCM, WAV, WMA.

There is a total of 6 channels for the audio and this is converted by the AC3 Decoder into 2 audio channels. The AC3 Decoder is one of the most common and looked for converters on the internet. Here you can enable or disable formats AC3Filter will decode.

Also, you can enable AC3Filter to process any audio (even formats it cannot decode). It is done with ‘PCM’ option. Of course, some other decoder must be installed at the system. AC3Filter just takes the decoded output and does audio processing.

• MPEG Audio: includes Layer I, LayerII and Layer III (aka mp3).
• DVD: Accept MPEG Program Stream and decode the contained audio (AC3, DTS, MPEG Audio and LPCM supported).
